Understanding Replant Coverage and Crop Loss
Your crop insurance policy may contain Replant Coverage. Replant coverage is an often-overlooked benefit that can help increase your ROI regardless of whether your seed companies replace the seed or not. If you end up having to replant a crop due to a covered loss, you may be eligible for a crop insurance payment.
Here are a few things to know about Replant Coverage:
- You must replant 20 acres or 20% of the insured crop. Your coverage decision in March will influence whether you will qualify.
- The original planting must have been affected by an insured cause of loss.
- You MUST report the replant claim to your Weller Insurance agent prior to replanting.
- If you use Precision Technology, you may go ahead and replant without an adjuster reviewing the acres if you can provide a separate planting map.
- If you do not use any Precision Technology, then you must wait for a claims adjuster to contact you and look at the acres.
- Depending on the number of acres you replant, you may qualify for a self-certified replant. This will streamline the process even further.
